Composition
GHK-Cu
Copper tripeptide-1. A naturally occurring tripeptide, glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine, supplied as its copper(II) complex in lyophilised form for in-vitro laboratory use.
What the vial holds
The material is the tripeptide Gly-His-Lys bound to one copper(II) ion. The histidine imidazole, the glycine amine and the deprotonated amide nitrogen coordinate the copper, which gives the complex its blue to violet colour in solution and in the lyophilised cake. The vial contains the complex and the excipients recorded on the certificate; nothing else is added.
How identity and purity are established
Identity is confirmed by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy against the compound's characteristic bands (USP <197A>). Purity and content are measured by HPLC (USP <621>), reported as the share of the chromatogram belonging to GHK-Cu and as milligrams found against the labelled 100 mg. Bacterial endotoxin is measured by the gel-clot LAL test (USP <85>) and reported as a value in EU per vial with the lysate sensitivity.
